Thoughts

Roy Vaughan - A gentle man and a gentleman. One of my fondest memories is 97 Brambles Chine, Freshwater, Isle of Wight. Summer 1976, Roy, Lil and Jane invited Mum, Dad and me to holiday with them at their chalet. Tim and Pete joined us for a few days having made the journey on their new Yamaha FS1-E’s. I was lucky enough to have many more holidays at their chalet with my own family and friends. Brilliant times and happy memories thanks to the generosity of Roy and Lil trusting us with their chalet. You Vaughan’s are like family to us and we feel very sad at the passing of Roy. Our love and thoughts to you all at this sad time. Roy you will always be remembered and spoken highly of. Much Love Kathryn, Shaun, Leanne and Jack xx

I’ve known Roy all my life. He was my Dads best friend, and Lil was my Mums. Roy was one of life’s real Gentlemen. People often say that about someone, but in Roy’s case it was true. My fondest thoughts of time spent with Roy were on a Sunday lunchtime over a pint in the Cedars. The main conversation was obviously football. It always started about football in general, but fairly quickly the Brummies would Hi-Jack the conversation and it would be all about Aston Villa. Aston bloody Villa. All of us Brummie offspring were subjected to non stop indoctrination. I think Jane bore the brunt of this, often ending in tears when they made her swear her allegiance to Villa. It’s a credit to her strength of character that she ended up a solid Hammer. Lil and Roy have been a part of all our family celebrations. Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and unfortunately in later years funerals. We too have been a part of all of yours. You feel like our family. I can’t tell you how sad we feel at the passing of this kind, gentle man. Thinking of you all , especially Lil at this very sad time. Love Pete, Pat and Amy. RIP Roy.
